ASVOFF II: A GOOD REASON FOR ONE TO BE CREATIVE

Dear iDEALS , I am sure that many of you are aware of ASVOF Film Festival, organized by shaded maiden Diane Pernet and her team: Antoine Asseraf and David Herman. For all creative fashion-video makers there is a last chance until August 15th to submit their visual stories and win a premiere at Paris Centre Pompidou.

ASVOFF started a few years back thanks to an idea by D.P , a festival of fashion+style+beauty which aims to sample the best of the quickly developing genre that is fashion film. Fashion films have taken off to a new level in the last year and so it is only natural that the festival should do the same… so far a number of world known creative minds have joined, revealing a new part of themselves and works.

After touring the Jeu de Paume, the Guggenheim Bilbao, the Arnheim Biennale, the Hyères Fashion + Photography Festival, Mexico, Seoul, Riga, London, Tokyo and Vienna for its first edition, A Shaded View On Fashion Film will kick off its 2009 edition with a preview of the 2nd edition giving special Pombidou Carte Blance to ASVOFF (ASVOFF II preview and Rick Owen’s choice) on October 8th, the last day of Paris Fashion Week, followed by 3 days of short-film selection + longer film screenings at Passage du Désir/BETC. The jury for this edition is comprised of designer Rick Owens, who will show a fashion-inspiring film of his choice at the Pompidou, photographer Nan Goldin, actress Maria de Medeiros, art critic Eric Troncy, Naïve label founder + ad man Eric Tong Cuong, Radio France journalist Laurent Goumarre and Wanda producer Hélène Ségol.

Dear iDEALS, a few days ago, Artistic Director for LiFO free press, asked me to submit a postcard for their last Summer issue. This is what I sent, dedicated of course to my Leo.

Dear iDEALS, during a break between a doctor appointment and some other business I met with designer Sotiris Georgiou. Sotiris is the most fresh member of the Hellenic designers association. He is known for designing clothes for both women and men. 

He offered me a beautiful top as a gift and made my day.

last week the capital of Holland breathed fashion during the Amsterdam International Fashion Week. Close friend of mine and great Dutch designer Claes Iversen showed his collection last Saturday ‘Ceci n’est pas un post-it’ together with the Offschedule Zipper fashion show the day before in the Rooms of Redbull. That same night...

 

And Beyond designers Jolanda van den Broek and Brigitte Hendrix had their first exhibition called ‘The Undaunted II’, a review of their last collections, with the best afterparty ever in Pop-up café Meneer de Wit! 

  

Monday was the closing day of the AIFW at the Modefabriek fair, where the style conscious Dutch label Kuyichi showed their latest vision on sustainable and organic fashion. Very interesting as well!

Dear iDEALS, I was informed today that one of the jackets from my Summer 2009 collection is in the coming issue of NOI.SE magazine.

I found the photograph on D-TALES, the agency that represents Manos Agrimakis, the photographer responsible for this wonderful photo.

Imagine that I knew nothing about this. Here is the jacket worn by muse Maria-Chrysavgi Petala on our catwalk presentation with Maria Mastori last fall.
