Dear iDEALS,
Enter the world of fashion with Arnhem Mode Biënnale
As a journalist and friend of Filep Motwary I’ve the honor to spread the word of one of the most inspiring culture fashion event in the world: Arnhem Mode Biënnale.

For a month the centre of Arnhem will literally form the core of the third edition of this event. SHAPE is the connecting thread and this year more than 80 fashion labels are participating, including Lanvin, Raf Simons, Hussein Chalayan, Jil Sander, Rick Owens, Martin Margiela, Stephen Jones, Viktor & Rolf and many more. Some 150 garments in Arnhem will make it apparent what the aspect of SHAPE signifies and why ‘form’ is so topical in fashion.
A high-profile exhibition, satellite presentations, lectures, shows and a magazine provide insight into SHAPE. A wide-ranging cultural scope makes this third biennale intriguing and accessible for everyone.
Last Friday on the 5th of June it was the kick-off , done by Her Royal Highness Princess Maxima and I must say: it was very impressive. Wearing a jacket of designer Jan Taminiau the Princess enjoyed visibly the catwalk presentation of Japanese designer Yoshikazu Yamagata.
After the show she walked through the exhibition, lead by artistic director Pieter 't Hoe, better known as Piet Paris, who told her all the stories how this third edition came to life. “ I was thrilled to see how interested she was in all the designers and her knowledge about fashion”, says Piet Paris. But not only Maxima was at present also Stephen Jones, Lucas Ossendrijver and international press like ID magazine, Dazed & Confused and Interview.
At night it was the openingsparty at the Arnhem Museum for Modern Art with an exhibition of photographers duo Freudenthal Verhagen.
The Arnhem Mode Biennale is till the 6th of July with highlights from Diane Pernet and her filmfestival ‘a Shaded view on Fashion Film’ and several fashionshows like SHAPE with Orsin & Bodil and the artEZ graduation show.
Special thanks to photographers Giuseppe Ruberti, Ashley de Groot, Kevin Deux from the Sixth Lens.
