FilepMotwary: You are a man involved in many things at the same time. Some of them are completely different from each other. How do you manage?
MiguelVillalobos: I don’t know, it seems to me, that is the best way of keeping a wider spectrum of things which ends, almost always, with good results, no sleep and some stress…
FilepMotwary: How many years have you been working so far and what is the goal of achievement you consider as ideal all through those years.
MiguelVillalobos: Around 16, I started before finishing design school in Caracas, the goal, well all I can say is to satisfy myself more and more! And not to COMPROMISE!
FilepMotwary: What is the story behind your involvement with Maison MARTIN MARGIELA?
MiguelVillalobos: One day out of the blue, I just got an email through my site from them requesting my portfolio. Later, I learned that they have been aware of my work for some time.
FilepMotwary: I know that you have worked for one of my favorite films "Headwig and the Angry Inch". How was that experience?
MiguelVillalobos: AMAZING!!! I was the visual consultant, I started helping with storyboards, and end up making props and photographing behind the scenes!
FilepMotwary: Do you still illustrate for people?
MiguelVillalobos: I work as an illustrator for Zaldy, L.A.M.B, Armani Exchange and Helmut Lang.
FilepMotwary: Your pictures are really alive. How do you manage to capture all of these really deep- personal -eye contacts. What are you thinking when you photograph people.
MiguelVillalobos: Not much, I just try to play with them and have fun.
FilepMotwary: Lately you spend a lot of time in Paris. What are the differences compared to New York?
MiguelVillalobos: Europeans know how to leave well!
Filep Motwary: What is your best childhood memory and why?
MiguelVillalobos: Alone at the beach collecting feathers and sea shells
FilepMotwary: Do you think that your background and origins formed your aesthetics.
MiguelVillalobos: Yes and somehow British music (Siouxsie and the Banshees, Creatures, Pram, Stereolab, Jethro Tull!) and Italian cinema too (Fellini!).
